Raasta
Hundreds of careers in one place, for every age.
Raasta is a self-initiated project: a single place to explore 556 careers in India, so students can discover what they like early and plan their path from scratch. It’s built for every age, from a Class 6 student to an adult changing careers. I researched, designed and built it.

The short version
Challenge
Career information in India is scattered across coaching sites, government PDFs and word of mouth, and most of it assumes the reader is already in Class 12.
Approach
One place that covers each career in depth, adapts its advice to the reader’s class or age, and adds tools for finding, comparing and planning a career.
Outcome
A working prototype covering 556 careers across 21 fields, with a career-fit quiz, side-by-side comparison, an AI impact tracker, a news feed and an exam and scholarship calendar.

01 / Overview
Why build a career guide?
Most students hear about three or four careers, usually from relatives. Information about the rest exists, but it’s spread across hundreds of sources and rarely written for a twelve-year-old. Raasta brings it into one place and starts from wherever the reader is.

First, who’s exploring?
Raasta starts by asking for the reader’s class (6 to 12) or age group (18 to 45+), and the answer can be skipped or changed any time. It changes the advice on every career: a Class 8 student sees which subjects to choose in Class 11, while a 30-year-old sees how to start later.

03 / Inside a career
Everything about a career, in one place.
Each career covers what the job involves day to day, pay, the skills it needs, the route in from the reader’s stage, real people who do it, how AI is changing it, and free resources to start with this week. Pay and dates are marked as verified or estimated, so readers know how far to trust each figure.

Browse it like an atlas.
On desktop, every view fits on one screen and pages instead of scrolling, with arrow keys and swipes to move around. Careers are grouped into 21 fields with sub-filters, and a “Surprise me” button opens a random career for anyone who doesn’t know what to search for. On phones it scrolls normally.

05 / Tools
Find, compare and plan.
A 12-question quiz suggests careers based on interests. Compare puts two careers side by side. The AI Tracker logs good and bad news about AI and work since late 2022, and a news feed plus an exams and scholarships calendar help with planning the year.

A working prototype.
Raasta works end to end: 556 careers, five tools and advice for 11 starting points. The next step is testing it with students, parents and counsellors.
Learnings
Career advice is only useful if it starts from where the reader is standing.
